About The Director
Raouf J Jacob is the Executive Director & Creator & Founder of
WCF studios/films LLC & Global Cinema Film Festival of Boston (GCFF). As the program chair at GCFF, Jacob spotlights films that make us care about human rights violations and the human condition around the globe. The award-winning director is originally from war-torn Sierra Leone, West Africa. His family fled Sierra Leone at the climax of the barbaric civil war in 1999 and immigrated to Boston, MA in January of 2000. Jacob is now a documentarian who has written, produced and directed documentaries spotlighting social and political injustice. “Sierra Leone: A Culture of Silence” is the filmmaker’s most recently produced multiple award-winning documentary feature film. As a curator of the annual Global Cinema Film Festival, Jacob seeks to program & exhibit unconventional styles that speak to the evolution of the narrative and documentary form. The director has also collaborated and continues to work with Non-Governmental Organizations around the world in hopes of raising awareness about human rights violations near and far. In addition to his work as a documentarian & film curator, Jacob has also served as a certified translator, multilingual educator, and Director of Communications at Boston Public Schools.
About The Executive Producer
Lara M. Moreno is an Executive Producer at WCF studios/films LLC and the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Global Cinema Film Festival of Boston. Ms. Moreno also served as a producer on “Sierra Leone: A Culture of Silence.” The producer is originally from Madrid, Spain, where she acquired an undergraduate degree in International Politics and Relations. In addition, Moreno also acquired a Bachelor's in Multidisciplinary Studies here in the U.S. She also acquired a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Boston, MA. Since then, Moreno has collaborated with independent documentary filmmaker Raouf J. Jacob and has produced unflinching documentaries about the human condition and human rights violations around the globe. The producer also holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, focusing on Educational Leadership and Development. Her journey to Africa inspired her to become a licensed public educator. As a bilingual educator, Moreno currently teaches Spanish as Foreign Language and English as a Second Language (ESL) at Boston Public Schools.
